On behalf of the Colonel Football staff and varsity football team, I want welcome you to tonight’s contest.
We are excited about the 2007 season and our senior class as they begin their last year of Texas High School football. All
of the participants in tonight’s contest have prepared for many hours to perform to the best of their ability. This includes
not only the football team members, but also our Southern Belles, the Colonel Band, Colonel Varsity Cheerleaders and Sentries.
I and the coaching staff are honored and blessed to be given the responsibility to lead these young men in their endeavor. Our goal is
to lead and train in such a way that the lives of our student-athletes will have a positive life-long impact as a direct result of our
actions. This includes not only the players successes on the field, but also in their choices and actions long after they leave the game of football.
Therefore, our base philosophy will continue to be “Live Like a Champion, Play Like a Champion!” We want our athletes to pursue victory
with honor by exemplifying great sportsmanship. We want to continue the tradition of excellent play with respect for our opponent.
As a result of our philosophy, we have not only been to the 5A state playoffs for the last four consecutive years but we have also had 19
players sign Division I scholarships during those 4 years. This ranks 2nd in Texas for that time period. What we are even prouder of is
the fact that a large majority of those players are still at those schools and are having academically and athletically successful careers.
We are honored that you are here to cheer on the Colonels as we reach higher and work harder to make it the best year ever for the Colonels.
Mickey Moss
Head Football Coach
